Warm water is hard water to keep safe. At spa temperatures chlorine burns off in hours rather than days, pH climbs as aeration strips carbon dioxide, and the bather load of a busy villa weekend can exhaust a sanitiser overnight. Our technicians test and rebalance on every visit — sanitiser, pH, alkalinity, hardness — and log the numbers, so the next visit starts from data rather than guesswork and you can see the tub's history at any time.

The mechanical side gets the same discipline. Filters are deep-cleaned or replaced on cycle, pump seals and unions checked before they leak rather than after, heater elements descaled so they stop working against their own crust, and ozonators tested for output instead of assumed alive. Because we come from construction, leak triage is methodical — isolate, pressure-test, inspect — and villa managers get service scheduled around changeovers, with a photo report after every visit.

Why tubs deteriorate faster here than almost anywhere

Everything about the island accelerates spa wear. Ambient heat keeps the water in the band where biology doubles fastest, so a missed dose shows up as cloud or slime within a day, not a week. Well water across much of Bali is high in calcium and iron — heaters scale, water tints, jets narrow. Sun destroys unprotected covers in two or three seasons, brief power cuts quietly stop circulation while owners are away, and within a kilometre or two of the coast salt air works on every exposed fastener and fitting.

None of this is fatal; it just sets the service cadence. Chemistry weekly or fortnightly depending on use, a monthly mechanical check, a proper drain and flush each quarter, and a cover assessed honestly rather than left to bake. That rhythm is exactly what the maintenance contract buys, and the logged results are how you know it happened.

Recommissioning a neglected spa — and when we advise against it

Bali's villa stock is full of hot tubs that came with the property and haven't run since the handover photos. Recommissioning is a set sequence: drain and inspect the shell, purge the pipework with a biofilm flush — the step most cleaners skip, and the reason tubs turn cloudy again within a week — then service or replace the filter, check the pump and heater electrically, refill, balance, and run the system under observation for 48 hours before we call it done.

We will also tell you when not to spend the money. A tub with a cracked shell, an obsolete control pack and no parts channel can cost more to resurrect than a new unit installed; at that point you get the numbers for both paths and make the call yourself.
