Frameless shower screens and glass enclosures in Bali
A frameless shower screen looks simple: one or two panels of glass and a few stainless fittings. It only stays that way if the glass is the right thickness, the fittings survive salt and hard water, and the fixings go into the wall without puncturing the waterproofing behind the tiles. We measure, supply and install walk-in panels, hinged and sliding enclosures and bath screens in 8–10 mm tempered glass.
- 10 mm tempered glass as standard
- 316 stainless hinges, clamps and channels
- Fixings set without breaking the membrane

In a villa bathroom the shower screen is the piece of glass people touch every day, often with wet hands and soap. It is also where cheap specification shows first: 6 mm glass that flexes when the door swings, chrome-plated hinges that blister within a year near the sea, a screen that leaks onto a timber floor because the shower floor was laid flat.
We fit screens in new bathrooms and existing ones. In a new bathroom we agree the floor falls, the drain position and the glass line with the tiler before the tiles go down; in an existing bathroom we survey first, because the floor and walls decide what is possible more than the catalogue does. For balustrades, pool fences and glass partitions, see our frameless glass systems.
Walk-in, hinged or sliding
- Walk-in panel. A single fixed panel, often with a return or a support bar. No door, no hinges, nothing to adjust. It needs a floor that falls firmly to the drain, ideally a linear drain along the wall.
- Hinged door with fixed panels. Inline or corner enclosures that keep the water in on smaller bathrooms. A 10 mm door carries 30–45 kg of glass, so the hinges must be rated for it.
- Frameless sliding door. A leaf on a stainless rail, for bathrooms where a door cannot swing.
- Bath screen. A fixed or hinged panel on the edge of the bath.
Glass, fittings and hard water
We use 10 mm tempered glass for doors and most panels, 8 mm only for small fixed ones. Tempered glass carries a small risk of spontaneous breakage from impurities in the glass, so on large panels we recommend heat-soaked glass. Ordinary clear glass has a green edge; low-iron glass is colourless and costs more.
Bali well water is often hard. The white spots on shower glass are limescale, and on untreated glass they slowly etch into the surface. An easy-clean coating keeps them from bonding, and a squeegee after each shower does the rest. Hardware is 316 stainless steel — the grade that survives salt air — in brushed, polished or black finish.
Waterproofing comes first
A shower screen is only as good as the floor under it. The floor must fall to the drain, the waterproofing membrane must run up the walls behind the tiles, and the screen fixings must not puncture that membrane below the splash line. We check the falls and the drain before we drill, set stainless anchors in sealant and seal the glass to the tile with neutral-cure silicone. If the bathroom already leaks, we tell you before fitting new glass over the problem.
SCOPE OF WORK
What's included
Survey & measure
Walls checked for plumb and the floor for falls; the final measure is taken after tiling, so the glass fits within millimetres.
Tempered glass
10 mm toughened safety glass with polished edges; low-iron or tinted on request.
316 hardware
Hinges, clamps, wall channels and handles in 316 stainless steel, finished to match the taps.
Watertight fixing
Stainless anchors set in sealant, holes kept above the splash zone where possible, neutral-cure silicone joints.
Easy-clean coating
Optional coating that stops hard-water spots bonding to the glass.
Adjustment & care
Door swing and seals adjusted after fitting; cleaning and care instructions for the villa staff.
PROCESS
How the job runs
- 01
Photos or plan
Send a photo or the bathroom plan; we reply with the screen types that fit and a price range.
- 02
Measure after tiling
We measure once the tiles are finished — tempered glass is made to size and cannot be trimmed later.
- 03
Fabrication
Glass cut, drilled and toughened to size, usually within two to three weeks.
- 04
Install & seal
Screen fitted, sealed, adjusted and water-tested; the silicone cures before the first shower.

Shower screens — what owners ask
How much does a frameless shower screen cost in Bali?
From IDR 4,900,000 for a fixed walk-in panel in 10 mm tempered glass and from IDR 8,900,000 for a hinged door with a fixed panel, supplied and installed with 316 stainless hardware. Size, glass type and finish move the price; we confirm it after measuring.
Tempered or laminated glass for a shower?
Tempered. It is the safety glass made for showers, and 10 mm tempered panels are stiff enough to stand frameless. Laminated glass is used where a panel must stay in place even when broken, such as overhead glass or balustrades — see tempered vs laminated glass.
Will a walk-in screen keep the water in?
If the floor falls properly to the drain and the panel is long enough, yes. A linear drain along the back wall and a panel of at least 1.2 m usually keep the rest of the bathroom dry. In small bathrooms a door is the safer choice.
How do we stop hard-water spots on the glass?
An easy-clean coating stops limescale bonding to the glass, and a squeegee after each shower keeps it clear. Without either, hard well water leaves white spots that slowly etch into the surface.
Can you fit a screen to existing tiles without damaging the waterproofing?
Usually, yes. We drill above the splash zone where we can, set stainless anchors in sealant and check the membrane line before drilling. If the bathroom already leaks, a new screen will not fix it — we tell you that first.
